For the first time in a long time I feel like the week is going by slowly. Does anyone else feel that way too, or is it just me?
This week my family and I watched “Hungry For Change” together. My family is now starting to make healthier choices.. I’m so proud of them! My parents decided to get a juicer but aren't sure which one to get. If you have a juicer, what do you recommend?
As always, I’m going to share some recent eats from the past couple of days. Thanks to Jenn for hosting!
Recent Breakfast: Oatmeal (1/2 cup rolled oats, water, milk and cinnamon) topped with some 70% dark chocolate.
Recent Lunch: I’m going to post the recipe tomorrow!
Recent Breakfast: Two pieces of protein bread from Aldi, both topped with full fat cream cheese (never the low fat kind!) and one topped with jam. A full fat yogurt with honey on the side.
Recent Snack: I’ve been loving mixed nuts (cashews, almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts) for a snack!
Recent Lunch: A grilled cheese sandwich (two pieces of protein bread from Aldi, Swiss cheese, turkey salami, cream cheese and lettuce) with an apple on the side.
Recent Snack: Healthy Chocolate Chip Muffin
Have you seen the movie “Hungry For Change“, if so, what did you think of it? What is a favorite snack of yours right now? Do you have a juicer?

I've never watched Hungry for Change but I have always wanted to. Would you recommend it? I'm afraid I can't help with the blender - I use a food processor haha! That muffin looks phenomenal like that! And I love how you topped you oatmeal with dark chocolate. Best idea ever, :)
ReplyDeleteI saw "Hungry for change" and it realy made me think. There is no question that what we eat influences our health, like "Super Size me" showed. We should treat our health and body as good as possible, b/c it is the only one we have!!
ReplyDeleteHave you seen "Fat, Sick and nearly Dead"..that was really interesting for me. It was the last push I needed to buy a juicer. I thought about it a long time and am so happy I made the decicion.
I have a Philips juicer and I love it. You get a lot of juice out of it, it is quick, not to loud and very easy to clean! I can totally recommend it. http://www.amazon.de/Philips-HR1869-00-Entsafter-schwarz/dp/B0079V00L2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1350465571&sr=8-1
Hope this helps! If you have question about the juicer...just write me :)
Glad that your family enjoyed Hungry fo Change as well. I've watched the movie several times and everytime I feel like I'm learning something new. When I lent the DVD to my sister she immediately went off to buy a juicer. She has a Kenwood Chef (food mixer) and bought the juicer attachment for that machine which she is very happy with. This way she saved money since most juicers are rather expensive and she doesn't have another appliance using up space in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteHappy WIAW!
I haven't seen Hungry For Change. I should look for it. The muffin looks delicious! I'd be curious about the juicer recommendations too!Have a great day, Shannon!
ReplyDeleteI have a juicer but I haven't used it in forever! My favorite combo was carrot, beetroot, and spinach!
ReplyDeleteOh your chocolate chip muffin looks so moist & delicious!
ReplyDeleteHungry for Change was so inspiring! I'm considering getting a juicer for Christmas, but I don't know which one. Guess I need to do some research.
ReplyDeleteChocolate chip muffins..have to check em out!
ReplyDeleteI actually think I have seen that! Your meals look delish.. I don't have a juicer personally, but I did work in Macy's housewares and I know the best brand is Brevel :)
ReplyDeleteI am dying for a juicer. I sneaked one onto our wedding gift list, a girl can hope :)
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't recommend a Ninja. I've heard that it doesn't juice very well and there are always tons of chunks in your drink.
ReplyDeleteIf you get one, I hope you share some of the delicious recipes that you make! We have an old juicer at home that we barely use :)
I've never watched Hungry for Change but will be!
ReplyDeleteHaha, I absolutely HATE low fat cream cheese, at least everything under 5% is disgusting in my opinion! But I really do love the lighter version of "Buko" (it's 17% I think), it's a bit lighter but you won't taste a difference to the full fat one.
ReplyDeleteI had trail mix a lot for snacks this week and right now I'm craving craisins but don't have any on hand :(
delicious eats, I have not seen that before.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen that movie, but it sounds interesting! Yeah--I dislike low fat things... especially mayo. No comparison!
ReplyDeleteThat bread looks and sounds amazing! I wonder if it is available in the states?
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. Happy WIAW :)
Wow, those muffin looks incredible!
ReplyDeleteProtein bread!!! I need to try that. I love your mixed nuts too. Happy WIAW! :-)
ReplyDeleteI saw "Hungry for Change" and I really liked it :)
ReplyDeleteWe don't have a juicer at home :( - but I think we need one :D
Fav snack? Nuts all the way and apples of course :)
All your meals look so good!
ReplyDeletewe have a green star juicer! they make juice that can last up to a few days in the fridge without oxidizing too much :) great for making it ahead of time!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a juicer but I have a Blendtec blender which I highly recommend! You can make juice in it but get more fiber from the fruit than with a juicer.
ReplyDeleteDark Chocolate is my FAVORITE!!!! Especially with breakfast. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love "Hungry for Change" -- it is such an awesome documentary. I'm glad your family has decided to make some lifestyle changes. Good luck to you all! I know you'll be a good role model for them to follow. :)
There's nothing like melted chocolate in oatmeal!
ReplyDeleteAnd those muffins look amazing!
